PhD Studentship in Structural Engineering
A PhD studentship is now available in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in the area of concrete columns incorporating fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. The student will be supervised by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng. The PhD research programme will involve large-scale column tests and the development of advanced theoretical models.
Applicants should possess the following qualifications/attributes:
(a) A bachelor degree in civil engineering with academic results being within the top 20% of the class from a reputable university.
(b) A master degree; or completion of the coursework component of a master or PhD degree program;
(c) A strong interest in pursuing an academic/research career; and
(d) Competency and interest in both theoretical and experimental studies.
Research publications of applicants will be an important criterion for assessing their research experience and potential. The successful applicant will receive a monthly stipend of HK$ 13,350 per month (current rate but may be revised by the University from time to time) for the entire duration of a three-year PhD programme, provided satisfactory progress is made.
