Prof. Paolo Coppa was borne in Alba (CN) on June 10th 1950. He was graduated in Physics by the University of Torino (Italy) on July 18th 1974 (graduation rate 110/110 summa cum laude). He is professor in the group of teaching subjects ING-IND10 (Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer) by the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. From 1977 to 1986 was employed by the Research Centre of FIAT in Orbassano (TO) as expert in non destructive testing, thermo-physical analysis, quality and process control, X-ray diffraction, and residual stress measurement. Since 1986 he joined the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, from1986 to 1997 as researcher (assistant professor), from 1997 to 2002 as associate professor, and since 2002 as professor. His research fields are: radiation heat transfer, thermo physical properties measurements, thermometry, pyrometry at high (>700°C), intermediate (200-500°C) and low (20-200°C) temperature, design of remote heating plants, air jet impingement on cylinders, cooling devices for industrial vehicles, design and prototyping of thermal systems, as dryers, fluid distributors and wind tunnels. Since September 2004 he is in charge as president of the A.I.P.T. (Italian Association of Thermophysical Properties).
