讲座题目：STRUCTURAL APPLICATIONS OF FRP COMPOSITES IN CONSTRUCTION
Abstract of the Lecture：
Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have found many structural applications in construction. The most popular area for the application of FRP composites has been the strengthening and retrofit of deficient structures, but the new construction area has also attracted increasing attention. This presentation will provide an overview of recent research undertaken at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on the structural use of FRP composites in construction. Key issues for further research will also be discussed.
Biography of the Speaker:
Dr. Jin-Guang Teng is Chair Professor of Structural Engineering, Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Land Use, and Associate Vice President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include the application of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in the strengthening of structures and in new construction, seismic assessment and retrofit of concrete structures, intelligent high-performance structures, steel structures, and thin-walled structures. He is the author/co-author of over 370 papers and book chapters, including 140 SCI journal papers which have received over 2,150 citations according to the Web of Science. Six of his journal papers are currently rated as “highly cited papers” by Essential Science Indicators. In addition, he is the lead author of the book “FRP-Strengthened RC Structures” published by John Wiley and Sons in 2002. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Advances in Structural Engineering and a member of the editorial boards of 7 other international journals. He has served as a member of scientific/advisory committees of about 80 conferences and has given about 50 keynote and invited presentations at conferences. He has received a number of prestigious national and international awards for his research contributions, including the inaugural IIFC Medal from the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC).
