报告摘要
Hybrid systems, as the term is used in this work, are those where there is a dual form of actuation: inputs that are continuous in time and those that are impulsive in time and hence form a discrete set. An optimal control problem (LQR problem) for linear hybrid models with quadratic performance index is formulated and the necessary conditions for optimality are determined. The solution to the control problem is obtained using two types of Riccati equations: the usual continuous-time Riccati differential equation and a discrete Riccati equation which yields discontinuous jumps in the continuous-time solution. Necessary conditions for optimal timing of the impulsive inputs are also presented. Two hybrid control problems are considered, both of which use the geomagnetic field for the continuous part of the actuation. In the attitude control problem, the torques provided by the geomagnetic field acting acting on onboard current-carrying coils are combined with impulsive thruster-based control torques. In the second problem, the hybrid LQR solution is applied to the problem of spacecraft formation flying in low Earth orbit. Here, the deputy (actuated) spacecraft mitigates the effects of the J2 perturbation using a combination of the geomagnetic Lorentz force acting on a charged spacecraft and impulsive thrusting for actuation. It is shown that controllability issues as well as the required amount of thruster actuation can be mitigated when the latter is used in concert with magnetic actuation.

Christopher J. Damaren教授,分别于1985年和1987年获得加拿大多伦多大学航天科学与工程学士学位和硕士学位,1990年获得加拿大多伦多大学博士学位,现任加拿大多伦多大学航天工程研究院院长 (University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies, Director)。从1990年至1999年,Christopher J. Damaren教授先后执教于加拿大皇家锚地军事学院和新西兰坎特伯雷大学。他从19997月开始执教于加拿大多伦多大学,成为多伦多大学副教授,于20037月取得多伦多大学终身教职,20107月成为加拿大多伦多大学教授。Christopher J. Damaren教授从20067月起担任加拿大多伦多大学航天工程研究院副院长,20083月至20136月兼任多伦多大学应用科学与工程系副主任。Christopher J. Damaren教授为加拿大科学院院士、AIAA Associate Fellow,主要研究领域包括:大型挠性航天器控制、太阳帆姿态控制、基于地磁场的航天器姿态控制、非线性H∞控制等。
