报告题目:Basic results on interval observers design from continuous to switched systems

摘要: This lecture presents basic materials for interval observers design of dynamical systems subject to disturbances and measurement noise. For the sake of simplicity, the simple cases of continuous-time and discrete-time linear time-invariant systems are presented. A panoply of tools is gradually presented depending on the complexity of the interval observers design: simple structure, changes of coordinates, introduction of more degrees of freedom and optimization based on several kinds of criteria. Next, the case of switched linear systems, more challenging in practice, is discussed and it is shown that under some additional assumptions (under an average dwell time condition with multiple Lyapunov functions, or with a common Lyapunov function and arbitrary switchings), similar interval observer structures can be addressed. Finally, unknown input interval observers for discrete-time switched systems is considered with two approaches: (i) the first is based on a decomposition leading to a subsystem not affected by the unknown input for which an interval observer is designed based on the Input-to-State Stability. The gains are computed by solving Linear Matrix Inequalities formulated based on multiple quadratic Lyapunov functions under average dwell time switching signals. The remaining subsystem dynamic is then used to obtain an explicit expression for the unknown input bounds. (ii) The second overcomes changes of coordinates and extends the state vector by introducing the unknown input vector leading to a descriptor representation. The extended state estimation leads to the unknown input reconstruction. This lecture targets both beginners and experienced researchers.
