Abstract: With the advancement of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) edge computing and communications from the sky become possible and indeed provide an effective way to complement the current ground-based horizontal edge computing and communications. This talk starts with a brief introduction of UAV and UAV-assisted wireless communications, and then moves on to discuss the necessity of a close collaboration of the two important resources in any ICT system, namely, communication and computation, again in the context of UAVs. Then the talk focuses on wireless energy charging, which is carried out together with communications, i.e., the so called data and energy integrated networks (DEIN). Key research issues and our solutions are presented, including not only theoretical aspects such as problem formulation and algorithms but also experimental implementations. The talk concludes with discussions on future opportunities in this exciting research area. The talk is easy to follow and is suitable to young researchers who just start their research study and to anybody who is interested in wireless charging and mobile edge computing and communications.

摘要：随着无人机（Unmanned Aerial Vehicles）的进步，天空边缘计算和通信成为可能，并且可以作为当前基于地面的水平边缘计算和通信的一种有效补充。本次演讲首先简要介绍无人机和无人机辅助的无线通信，然后继续讨论在任何 ICT 系统中，无人机背景下通信和计算这两个重要资源密切协作的必要性。然后演讲的重点是无线能量充电，并伴随通信一起进行，即所谓的数据和能量集成网络 (DEIN)。提出了关键研究问题和我们的解决方案，不仅包括问题表述和算法等理论方面，还包括实验。演讲最后讨论了这个研究领域的未来机遇。演讲内容通俗易懂，适合任何刚开始研究的年轻研究人员以及对无线充电、移动边缘计算和通信感兴趣的师生和学者。

Speaker: Kun Yang received his PhD from the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering of University College London (UCL), UK. He is currently a Chair Professor in the School of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering, University of Essex, UK, leading the Network Convergence Laboratory (NCL). Before joining Essex at 2003, he worked at UCL on several European Union (EU) research projects for several years. He has also been a visiting/affiliated professor at several universities such as UESTC, China. His main research interests include wireless networks and communications, IoT networking, data and energy integrated networks, mobile edge computing. He has published 300+ technical papers and filed 20+ patents in the above areas. He manages research projects funded by various sources such as UK EPSRC, EU FP7/H2020 and industries. He coordinated one EU FP7 research project. He has been a Judge of GSMA Global Mobile Awards since 2019 (MWC-Barcelona) and a member of UK EPSRC Peer Review College for many years. He serves on the editorial boards of a number of IEEE journals (e.g., IEEE TNSE, ComMag, WCL). He has been actively organizing international conferences/symposia/workshops. He is a Member of Academia Europaea (MAE).

演讲者：Kun Yang 在英国伦敦大学学院 (UCL) 电子与电气工程系获得博士学位。他目前是英国埃塞克斯大学计算机科学与电子工程学院的主席教授，领导网络融合实验室（NCL）。在 2003 年加入 Essex 之前，他曾数年在 UCL 从事多个欧盟 (EU) 研究项目。他还曾在中国电子科技大学等多所大学担任访问/附属教授。主要研究方向为无线网络与通信、物联网网络、数据与能源综合网络、移动边缘计算。他在上述领域发表了 300 多篇技术论文并申请了 20 多项专利。他的研究项目资助众多，如英国 EPSRC、欧盟 FP7/H2020 和工业。他协调了一项欧盟 FP7 研究项目。自 2019 年起担任 GSMA 全球移动大奖评委（MWC-Barcelona），多年英国 EPSRC 同行评审学院成员。 他任职多个 IEEE 期刊（例如 IEEE TNSE、ComMag、WCL）的编委。 他一直积极组织国际会议/研讨会/研讨会，是欧洲科学院 (MAE) 的成员。
