Title: General Arithmetic Codes

Abstract: DNA storage and compression is now attracting more and more attention from academia and industry. Different types of point gene mutation can be well modeled as substitution, insertion, and deletion channels. For non-substitution channels, due to the loss of synchronization, convolutional codes may be preferable to block codes. This talk will introduce general arithmetic codes, which include many variants of arithmetic codes, e.g., overlapped arithmetic codes, forbidden arithmetic codes, hybrid arithmetic codes, etc., and embrace convolutional codes as special cases. Specifically, we will introduce our advances on overlapped arithmetic codes, including coset cardinality spectrum and Hamming distance spectrum. These works pave the way for the applications of overlapped arithmetic codes to distributed source coding.
