美国内布拉斯加林肯大学王建教授学术报告通知

报告题目:Deformation Twinning in Hexagonal Metals

Abstract: Twinning and de-twinning, which are the dominant deformation mechanisms in hexagonal-close-packed (HCP) metals, exhibit more complex nucleation and propagation mechanisms than those associated with dislocation slip and those in cubic structures (FCC and BCC). Specifically, twinning and de-twinning are directional, involve atomistic shuffling, and they induce a strong crystallographic reorientation. Twin nucleation, a necessary first stage of twinning, seems to invariably take place at grain boundaries in hcp materials, and to involve complex dislocation reactions. After twin nucleation, twin propagation and growth seem more complicated than that in cubic crystals because of the formation of serrated coherent twin boundaries. In this talk, I will focus on the fundamental understanding of nucleation, propagation, and interactions of deformation twins and their effects on mechanical behavior according to atomistic simulations and in situ microscopic observations. These findings provide theoretical base for researchers to revisit experimental data, rebuild the frame of twinning mechanisms including nucleation and propagation of twins, and advance the development of materials modeling tools at meso- and macro- scales as well as alloy design.

报告人简介:

王建博士是美国内布拉斯加林肯大学材料与机械工程系教授。他于1999年获西安交通大学固体力学博士学位,2006年获美国伦斯勒理工学院机械工程博士学位,曾在美国洛斯阿拉莫斯国家实验室(LANL)工作9年。他的主要研究方向是采用多尺度理论、模拟和实验方法,定量研究结构材料和纳米结构材料的组织与性能关系。王建教授获多项学术奖励,包括:LANL杰出博士后奖(2009年)、LDRD /早期职业奖(2011年)、两项LDRD-ER奖(2013年)、TMS MPMD青年领袖奖(2013年)、国际塑性杂志青年研究奖(2015年)、Scr Mater(2016)和Acta Mater(2017)等期刊优秀审稿人奖、Materials Today 2018年材料基因工程(2018)新星奖。担任International Journal of Plasticity(2015~)与Scientific Reports(2016~)等多个期刊的编委。发表了250余篇同行评议论文(其中Progress in Materials Science 3篇、Nature Communications 7篇、International Journal of Plasticity 13篇、Acta Materialia 38篇),引用次数大于9000次,H因子为58,25篇论文被选为材料科学领域的最热门论文,7篇论文被选为期刊封面。受邀发表了100多篇邀请报告和主题报告。
